Winner, winner (again!)
We had to wait a while but were rewarded late in the evening with two nice winners…
Former Kiwi Crickets Chirping reversed his recent poor form in Aussie with a $10.00/$2.80 win for our 3 unit ew investment, and a Hall of Fame entry.
And even later Pioneer River (5 units ew) lived up to his promising resumption with a superbly-timed finish, winning for the first time in almost three years at $5.50/$1.80.
Sweysive (5 units ew), came with a nice late run for yet another second, paying $2.60 the place, there’s a win coming for sure, while earlier, Mali Ston (4 units ew) ran third at $2.35.

One win came at the distance on heavy. Needs to find that form to figure in this at $34, not sure the drop back to 1400m helps this backmarker…

CAR was noted booming home in a dominant debut at Otaki and she backed that up 398 days ago with a well-supported win at Riccy, beating Miss Ziggy. Marokopa Falls shapes up us the other likely trifecta hope, but we’ll stick with CAR ($2.60), even though C Grylls jumps ship to MF.
BET: CAR 10 unit win, 10 unit to win trifecta with other two for places.

He’s been consistent this prep but this is a big step up both in grade and distance for him, and will go round as the outsider in this, $34 on offer.

His best form is on heavy, and while he drops in grade he is only a place chance at best at $19.

Solid return 24 days ago at Te Aroha for third, fitter and back in grade today. Generally up on pace and good second-up form (3:1-1) and can feature in this as $3.70 second fav.

Resumes and both wins have been in this state (5:2-1). Back in grade and both wins at this distance, so keep safe at $17.

GT tends to get back in the run and best form is on heavy so will need to lift to figure at $14. Vistown places intermittently, gets back, marginal chance at $19.

Does get back but has a decent finish in him as he showed when running on from dead last for a close fifth 21 days ago at Caulfield. Drop in grade, up in distance, T Prebble ready to produce him late in this at $12.

CL finally gave us cause to celebration when winning at Canberra 27 days ago with a sustained run from last. Best form has been on good going (11:5-4), so keep safe at $13.
Roots has talent on his day and has been running in G company, needs to improve to figure in this one at $23 but capable of featuring in this.

Four wins from five, and an astonishing winner in 55 days ago. I nearly lost mine as he dropped out the back, seemingly trapped on the fence, and looked chance at the final bend, but found a way through on the fence and steamed home to win in most impressive fashion at $2.60. He’s belting through the grades and that’s five straight wins for him, can’t see why he doesn’t win again, $1.80 fav.
