Boom! Boom!
We repeat the two-winner dose yesterday, with two of our picks returning to the winners’ circle after some indifferent form…
Markwell Dreamer (3 units ew) had run a nice second two weeks ago, he settled handily in midfield then unleashed a huge run down the middle to feature in the photo, with the result flashing up that he’d run second, but the photo said he’d got up by the tiniest margin at a juicy $7.40/$2.20.
Indifference (3 units ew) shown anything but that when he barrelled home from a similar position, and won with something in hand at almost exactly the same odds, $7.40/$2.10.
Well, the overnight rain means the cancelling of NZ’s fourth meeting in a row this week, with Puke and Hastings earlier, and now Rotovegas and New Plymouth all abandoned.
That leaves us with just 14 from the book today, let’s dive in!!
14 from Aussie today
Cindy Falls
Flemington R4
Kiwi mare with two very good runs under her belt, a third on debut and an astonishing finish here 14 days ago from dead last to win over the 1400m, suggesting that the rise to the mile here today will suit, and she can take out what looks like a race in two as $3.40 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
Baraqiel, Pioneer River
Flemington R6
Baraqiel chasing five in a row, and while this is his first time down the straight, I fancy you’d have to be on him again, such has been the class of his wins to date. $3.00 fav.
PR hasn’t won for some time, but he’s rarely far away, and could offer some value at $10.
BET: B 10 unit win, PR 3 units ew, exotics
Duke Of Hastings
Flemington R7
Steps out to 2800m for the first time, and while he does have a decent finish in him, he’ll need to produce his A game to feature in the finish here as a $23 shot…
BET: 3 units ew
Luna Cat
Flemington R9
This is a wide open betting race, with a $6 fav at the moment! Luna Cat ran third in the BM84 behind the talented Kin 21 days ago and drops back to the BM78 and back to the 1000m down the straight, has had success here previously and is 6:2-3 at this distance. $9 on offer, and she’s a real chance in this…
BET: 5 units ew
Eye Pea Oh
Rosehill R3
Five runs this prep have her not too far off but without threatening to win. All her four wins have been on soft but her T&Ds don’t read well… Will need to be at her best to feature, watch for her late in this, $17 shot.
BET: 3 units ew
Miss Jennifer
Rosehill R5
Got back early at Randwick 14 days ago but rattled home late to finish just over a length from the winner under J Ford, who sticks today, and she’s 6:3-0 at this distance, making her the value bet in this race at $10.
BET: 5 units ew
Chorlton Lane
Rosehill R9
His failure three weeks ago cost us dearly as he never really got into the race at Caulfield, finishing a disappointing seventh in his first run on a soft track, and they pulled him a week or two back because of the track conditions. JMac jumps on, can redeem himself here as $2.20 fav, long as it’s not too wet…
BET: 10 unit win
Kalahari Heart
Inverell R5
Mixing her runs up a bit, does tend to get back a bit but has a decent finish in her. Drops to the BM50 here, where she won three back this T&D, just a tad concerned about her lack of form on the heavy surface. $3.80 second fav at the mo.
BET: 7 unit win
Fortified
Townsville R6
Obviously out of his depth at Rocky last week where he never featured as a $101 shot, but he had won two on the bounce prior in BM60s. This is more suitable, watch for him late in the small field as a $7 shot.
BET: 5 unit win
Focus
Townsville R8
Good T&Ds (don’t they all here) but never really emerged on resuming here 13 days ago. This is a jump in grade, and while he’s the $101 outsider, he does get a boost with Chelsea Jokic booked for the ride…
BET: 3 units ew
Festival Prince
Toowoomba R3
He’s produced two good late finishes here this prep for a third and a fourth, gets a bit of weight relief today. Watch for him late, value at $23…
BET: 3 units ew
Makbeel
Darwin R6
Former Kiwi who had a bright start to his Aussie career early in the year, but has dropped off badly since May. Had been running in town and now out in the wops of Darwin where he never figured 14 days ago. Not sure why the wheels have fallen off, but he’s capable of better, $61 shot here…
BET: 3 units ew
Blazing Tycoon
Belmont R5
Pops up occasionally for us, just can’t predict when… Don’t know why they don’t try him out to the mile, he invariably gets back and flies home late, as he did at Ascot 112 days ago to run third at $71 for us, another 50m and he would have won! So he resumes today, jockey is 6:1-3, no form on heavy tracks and has won once first-up, $23 on offer, who knows?
