Bang-bang!
It was a case of wham-bam thank you ma’am yesterday, as our two best bets romped in for very wins…
We were right on the money with Tara Jasmine (8 unit win), hoping for a closer run in transit to take advantage of her big finish, and that’s exactly as it panned out as she got up by a neck at $3.90. We whacked her on the nose, and anchored her to win the tri and first four for some nice returns…
Kasinova Kid (10 unit win) seemed to be a cert as our beat-the-bank tip, and he duly delivered at $1.40, one classy horse going places…
Mr Mischief gave us a run for our money at big odds before running out of puff, but we were especially encouraged by the late run into fourth of Charlie’s Tin at $51 after being dead last all the way in a big field, he’s starting to show a bit of form, and is a definite next-timer…

He’s on the 10 day back-up, and marked as “next-time” after that run at Puke, will have taken a lot from that run, and shapes up as a good EW punt at $11 here…

Noted on resumption at Puke in late Feb with a late run from the back to win by 3.5 lengths in a dominating run to break maidens early, followed up with a close third there last month and presents as the $4.40 fav here. Very backable EW…

She’s being running in better races than this and looks value in this at $10.

Holding his form well this prep, this looks like it could be a race in two between him and the co-fav. Jumps in grade a touch but has won at this level. $3.60 on offer.

TESTIFY ME
Awapuni, 2
Boomed home at Trentham in Jan to break his duck, and followed that up with two good runs. Up in grade again but can be competitive here as an $8.50 shot in an open betting event.

SHAMUS, SYNCHRONIZE

Shamus tried his damnedest to hang on under the big weight in the Lightning two weeks back, only to get nutted on the post by Maria Farina. He’ll have taken great benefit from that, and with OP jumping onboard I think he’ll measure up today and reverse that placing as $3.60 fav. Synchronize was noted on Boxing Day sprinting home from the back to win nicely in a Listed event, and has some place claims here at $12.

Up to G1 for this colt now, only been beaten by Tokyo Tycoon after winning his first three, but that’s no knock. OP to make in two in a row as $2.10 fav.

His three-race winning run to start his career was cut short with two runs at G1 level, but he’s back to G3 here as $3.40 fav, and prepared to give him a chance to atone as there’s obviously talent there… Back to his winning distance, but he’ll need to be a bit closer in the run.
