Two Hall of Famers!!
A very respectable return for our Friday Freebie yesterday, fifteen tips producing no less than two Hall of Fame winners, a second, two thirds and four fourths!
We spruiked up Missoni (3 units ew), who had failed on good ground last month, and who we knew needed some give in the ground, and she found it soft enough to her liking as she toughed it out down the home straight for an nice win at $11.00/$3.30.
Over in Canberra, perennial backmarker Sapphires Son (2 units ew) bounced back for his first win in 14 months, the last one a class record at Quirindi, paying $11.50/$3.20.
Places for More Sass, Amberecho, Buoyant, I Am The Empire, Mathew, Devine Miss and La Pleine Lune.
Huge day in the racing calendar, with the Caulfield Cup and The Everest leading the way, we’ve got 10 from NZ and 20 from Aussie, let’s dive in and have a look!!
NZ today!
Not Ideal
Ellerslie R6
Former HK gelding who’s not made an impact since returning to NZ. Pushes out to the 2100m for the first time, and his best form is on good going, so an outsider’s chance here at $51…
BET: 3 units ew
Double Take, Fashionista
Ellerslie R8
Can pretty much ditto the above for Double Take in this, though he was won one, $34 on offer.
Fashionista ran on well this time last year to win at Te Rapa prior to a 329 day spell, resumed 14 days ago at Hawera and will have taken benefit from that, watch the betting, $21 at the mo.
BET: Both 3 units ew
Aranui Lass
Otaki R2
Noted in April with a tidy third at Waverley, returns today from a 169 day break, well-bred mare, she may need this but worth watching at $11.
BET: 3 units ew
Kattegat, Free Spirit
Otaki R5
Kattegat ran a very encouraging third on resuming at Wanganui at the end of August, then won a trial there, before another tidy third at Waverley 10 days ago. Fav will take some beating but this mare worthy of the second fav spot at $4.20.
Free Spirit’s last two runs have shown much improvement, with a fourth and a second at big odds. Likes the track and the distance, with two wins at both, rates a good EW shot here at $23.
BET: Kattegat 4 units ew, FS 3 units ew, could fill exotics places…
Andersons Bay
Otaki R7
Debut run for second was full of merit, when he ran a bit green, and we fully expected him to follow that up three weeks ago at Otaki, only for him to run sixth, but he redeemed himself three weeks later despite drifting in the betting at Woodville, and never looked like losing once he hit the front, and he cantered away to a nice win and a promise of more to come. Resumes after a trial for fourth at Foxton, $12 in an open betting event, EW for sure…
BET: 3 units ew
Testify Me
Otaki R8
Got up for a fabulous win in the St Leger in March and followed up with another nice win here. Resumes after a six month break, trialled up twice, drops in both class and distance and looks certain to figure here, $7.50 on offer.
BET: 4 units ew
Tikemyson, Five Bells
Otaki R9
Re-found some form late on last prep with a win and a second at Awapuni, and trialled up recently. Might just need the run but EW at $10.
Five Bells charged home at Otaki in July and repeated that at Hawera in August. We thought she’d need to be closer over the shorter 1400m last time out at Woodville, and that’s how it played out as she broke maidens and provided us with a Hall of Fame entry at $10. The Mudman sticks, up to the mile, watch for her late at $23!

Aussie today!
Getafix
Caulfield R1
Getting closer with each run and scampered home well for second 17 days ago. Can give this fav a shake, $5 on offer.
BET: 5 units ew
Reserve Bank
Caulfield R2
Just nicked on the line by First Settler two weeks ago, he’s some colt and will take some beating in this, $3.50 on offer.
BET: 10 unit win
Pondalowie
Caulfield R5
Boomed home on debut here just over a year ago and has gone well since with another win in higher grade than this under B Egan before a close 11th of 12th down the straight at Flem. Resumed 13 days ago from a 141 day break, and with Billy back onboard and down in grade, she sprinted home late to get up at $4 for us at Bendigo. This is tougher, but Billy sticks, EW for sure at $6…
BET: 5 units ew
Mollynickers
Caulfield R8
Lots of chances in the Tristarc, not sure our girl is one of them though… Not far off without really threatening in two runs this prep, but has won on heavy, in this grade and on this T&D, so can’t discount her, $23 on offer.
BET: 3 units ew
Berkshire Breeze
Caulfield R9
Gets in the Caulfield Cup lineup via the ballot, and while she’s constantly around the mark, this is a big step up, and rates a $61 chance even with Ms Hefel up top, and some PGT interest in the big race…
BET: 2 units ew
Pinstriped, Aegon
Caulfield R10
Pin striped didn’t handle the heavy going in the Makybe a month back, so a little concern on similar conditions today, but he has won on heavy… Big drop in grade, and back to his favoured 1400m, and picking he’ll be a bit too classy for these as $3.60 fav.
Aegon finished 15+ lengths behind Pinstriped in that race, not going well enough to threaten at $13…
BET: PS 8 unit win, Aegon 2 units ew interest only…
Chorlton Lane
Randwick R2
Was in great form earlier in the year but that has fallen away in the latter part of the year. First try at the mile, and won’t want it too soft, EW best at $5.50 second fav.
BET: 3 units ew
Dominetta
Randwick R3
The win at Warwick Farm 24 days ago was impressive, she showed a lot of grit when headed and rallied to win. Has won a trial since, $3 fav, wins this for me…
BET: 10 unit win
Far Too Easy, Compelling Truth
Randwick R5
The fav will be popular in the Kosciuszko, even as a resumer from a long spell, but our pair have chances. FTE was not far off when resuming last month, and has won three trials from three either side of that, and rates a great EW shot as $4.20 second fav.
CT has won six of his past seven, biggest test yet but hard to knock winners and he rates a chance of running them off their feet at $19…
BET: FTE 4 units ew, CT 3 units ew
Talk Time
Eagle Farm R5
Possesses a great turn of foot (hoof?), drops in grade for this, hard to beat as $2.50 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
Deepfloat Diva
Morphettville R6
Won 4 from 6 ticks a lot of boxes, up in grade but looks well-capable of handling that, $4.60 second fav, yes please!
BET: 5 units ew, 10 unit win if the money comes…
Russley Crown, Sonofdec
Newcastle R7
RC a nice second on resumption, likes to be prominent, this is his distance, jockey is 3:1-2 onboard and is 6:2-2 second-up, easy EW bet at $5. Sonofdec noted with a huge finish in May to win, then ran down the track in a G1 and resumed 10 days ago running last at Randwick. He’s 2:2-0 second-up, so keep safe…
BET: Both 3 units ew
Ghost Doctor
Wodonga R3
Been close without winning, runs fav here at $4.20, could be his day, watch late!!
BET: 4 units ew
Moxatation
Avoca R8
Won at big odds for us two back, so maybe an EW shot in this at $21…
BET: 3 units ew
Winston Blue
Toowoomba R5
Needs to improve to figure here at $12.
BET: 2 units ew
Saloon Bar, Clemenceau
Ascot R7
Fav hard to beat as he goes for a 5-timer. Saloon Bar won for us 42 days ago, and is good enough to threaten, $10 makes him value. Clemenceau’s early form was outstanding but he’s had big spells away, imagine he’ll need this, $34 on offer.
BET: SB 4 units ew, C 2 units ew
