Three from four…

Happy New Year all, three dividends from four tips as we closed out 2023, with Cooper, Effortkat and Firelove all placing.

Almost Saturday status as we have 24 from today’s book on a busy Monday, let’s get the year off to a typcial PG’s Tips winning start, NZ tips up now, Aussie to follow shortly…

10 for NZ today…

VELOCIOUS

Pukekohe, 3

Won at big odds on debut in November and repeated the dose with a fine late run here two weeks later. Will need all that experience to get past this odds-on fav who’s won all his trials and his only run. Looks like a squat quinella…
BET: 10 unit quinella these two

ESS VEE ARE, QUEEN SARABI

Pukekohe, 6

SVR returned after some ordinary runs in Aussie with a second to this fav, should progress from that, $5 shot. QS showed some nice form in Aug/Sept but has struggled up in grade in four runs since, $34 shot here.
BET: SVR 5 units ew, QS 2 units ew

KARMAN LINE, BADGERINGDAWITNESS

Pukekohe, 7

Went in the book on debut then ran five placing in her next ten races. Resumes today from a 247 days spell, has trialled twice and Kennedy a key booking, well-supported in early betting, $4.40 on offer, don’t discard. BDW showed some promise two runs back with a prominent second in late Nov, subsequent two not so good, $31 outsider here.
BET: KL 5 units ew, BDW 2 units ew

WAITAK, JOHNY JOHNY

Pukekohe, 8

Lots of chances in the Railway, with our two sitting at $14 and $19 in the betting. Could spice up the exotics for us.
BET: Can back both 2 units ew, include in exotics

HABANA

Pukekohe, 9

We weren’t sure about his chances at the mile last time out in the Trentham debacle, where part of the gate system didn’t open and the three horse that didn’t need to be recalled finished in the top four, Habana running off for fifth. Given a level playing field and his fine record on track (6:5-1), prepared to back him again today… $5.50 on offer.
BET: 5 units ew

PIN SEEKER

Riverton, 1

Spruiked up on debut and took some late money. Last all the way in a big field and flew home for seventh, earning a next-time status. EW all day at $5…
BET: 5 units ew

HENRY HUBBER

Riverton, 4

Mixing his runs this prep but down in grade for this and looks the winner as $3 fav.
BET: 10 unit win

Aussie today…

TEXAS TEA, VASMEE

Flemington, 5

Our two present as the two favs here. TT is ex-Kiwi and returned after a 536 day break 26 days ago. His three runs in Aus had produced a third and a win, and we thought the 1400m would be short of this favoured 2000m+ but he flew home for fifth, marking him down as a next-timer. Must get onboard over the extra 400m, $4.60 on offer.

Vasmee races on the pace and has placed two from his last three, definitely a threat as he drops back in distance, $5.50 at the mo.
BET: Can back both 5 units ew, include in exotics and the basis of the late qadi.

GLENTANEOUS

Flemington, 6

Massively impressive from the back at MV 9 days ago, up in grade and distance but no reason the think he won’t dish ‘em up again today as $3 fav. Second leg of qadi.
BET: 10 unit win

CALL HIM IGGY

Flemington, 8

Another heading up in the grade but the two from two to date have been impressive enough. Co-fav here at $3.60, race in two here, also include in qadi with Bel Air.
BET: 10 unit win

AMATI

Canterbury Park, 4

Returns from a 3 month spell as $4.60 fav in an open race. Has won at the distance and would prefer longer but has trialled up twice and Waller is the master at placing his horses in the right race, Bayliss a key booking. Easy EW bet.
BET: 5 units ew

FRANKIE’S ME DAD

Canterbury Park, 6

Won a couple in March but not followed up. $23 shot here.
BET: 2 units ew

RECOMMENDATION

Canterbury Park, 7

He’s 12:6-4, won 23 days ago at Randwick, great T&D, should go close in a small field at $4.80.
BET: 6 unit win

TACTFULL

Mornington, 8

Two runs for second at good odds before a poor run at Caulfield 18 days ago. Open betting event, can EW at $8.
BET: 3 units ew

KALAHARI HEART, ABB ROY

Inverell, 7

Inverell a big finish a month back for second, she gets out to 1400m which will assist and up in grade, but still an EW shot at $23. Abb Roy at run #148, backing up after 4 days, rank outsider at $126, pops up on occasion.
BET: KH 3 units ew, AR 2 units ew

LOCA

Inverell, 8

Much-improved run for close third 16 days ago, finishing on late from the back over the 950m, so the rise to 1200m a positive. Jockey sticks, EW chance at $15.
BET: 3 units ew

LITTLE RICH BOY

Murray Bridge, 8

Last week’s last of six a bit out of character, back to BM56 today as second fav at $5.50. Can bounce back in this.
BET: 4 units ew

SIR SIMON

Longford, 6

We weren’t sure he could keep the hotpot fav out last time but he did with a tough front-running display. Out to 1800m a question mark but capable of taking this out as $2.40 fav if they nurse him along.
BET: 8 unit win

TARA JASMINE

Toowoomba, 7

Her perennial get-back style won’t be suited back to the 1200m and up in grade. Pops up occasionally but hard to follow, $19 on offer.
BET: 2 units ew
