1-2-3
First, second and a third yesterday, with the winner as expected our bet of the day the overdue Incessant (10 unit win), who won with a leg in the air after three seconds to start his career. No arriving too late on the scene, he just ran away from them off the final bend to get up at a lean $1.50, but you could have grabbed $2 if you got on early…
The two placings came from an unexpected source, with Fantasy Eagle ($2.10) and Fiendish ($5.10) getting up for places.
Half a dozen from the book today, and enough tips to suggest a go at the late Pak qadi!
Six of the Best…
Adolphus, Gold Tracker
Wagga R5
Adolphus has been massively impressive winning both races this time in dominant fashion, and looks as if he’ll progress through the grades nicely. Steps up again here, and pushes out to the 2000m, only question is the heavy going he meets today but he’s 2:1-1 on soft, so shouldn’t be too alien to him. Second fav is the danger today, but think our lad can win this as $2.15 fav.
Gold Tracker way out of his class in a Highway at Rosehill 16 days ago, and while he’s done little on the face of it since his last win in November, he was in fine form then, and can’t help thinking he’s better than that. Saves his best for here, so maybe an EW bet at $14.
BET: A 10 unit win, GT 3 units ew, exotics
Kew Player
Pakenham Synthetic R6
Thereabouts without threatening to win in three runs this prep, but he does like this track (5:1-3) and does possess a decent finish, invariably featuring late in his races. Moloney is 8:2-2 onboard, if he can get him out the gates cleanly he can certainly be a factor in this, $21 on offer…
BET: 3 units ew
Donation
Pakenham Synthetic R7
Ran a much-improved race second-up, as we thought he would 20 days ago at Ballarat. Likes the distance, first time on the AWT but is another that likes to drop in late, so another EW shot at $10.
BET: 3 units ew
Royal Fox, Bullet Wing
Pakenham Synthetic R9
Interesting contest in the get-out here, with these two well in the betting in a very even race. Both resuming from 73 day breaks when they both raced at Benalla, in different races, with Royal Fox unleashing his trademark late run to put them away easily under Billy Egan. Gets Benny Allen today, that’s no knock, he’s 6:2-2 first-up and has T&Ds here. Would rather see him over longer, but he’ll be descending late, $4.60 on offer as second fav.
Bullet Wing ran a couple ordinary races before just getting nudged out before the break, he’s a frontrunner and has some decent stats of his own, likes the distance and the grade and has won first up, though this is his first start on the AWT. Worth including as third fav, $6.50.
BET: Both 4 units ew, include in exotics
