An eye-catcher a month back at Wodonga, hanging around the $51 mark and looking every part an also-ran as he dropped right out the back, but made his move just before the final bend and rattled home for a very close third, paying $5.50 the place. Well-supported nine days ago over the shorter mile course, running a decent fourth, so suspecting the push up to the 2000m just might suit him this time in. Keep safe at $31…

Not a noted first-upper and did nothing on resuming 19 days ago on the Hillside track, running last. He’s 7:0-3-1 second-up and his track and distance stats are not too bad. Might need another but another to keep safe at $18.

Has improved a touch over two runs this prep and drops back in grade for this. 1200m is his fav distance and Penza is 7:1-1-1 up top. Winning strike rate isn’t great, but another to watch at $23…
