More placings…
Couldn’t quite get one over the line yesterday, our 11 tips reduced to seven as Timaru gets abandoned after two races…
Seconds for Dillinger ($1.80) and Sir Simon ($2.05), third for Call Him Iggy ($1.40) and a fourth for Sir Diamond…
Five on a quieter Monday, and dare we say all in with a shot!
Monday’s Fab Five…
Brilliant Mind
Cairns R3
Race in two here and we’ll stick with our lad who’s resuming today from a 134 day spell as $3.60 second fav. This well-related gelding racked up four wins in a row last prep before heading for a well-earned break. Immaculate stats, Wiggins is 3:3 up top, and possesses early form, so we think he can knock off this odds-on fav, who has his own decent stats.
BET: 10 unit win, 10 unit quinella with fav.
Tycoon Beau
Cairns R4
Very consistent and resumes from a 218 day spell here and is 4:1-1 first-up, jockey is 4:1-2. Steamed home last run last prep for third over the 1500m, just not sure what to make of him in this 950m dash for cash, after all, he’s a regular backmarker… This might be a warm-up for him, $10 on offer…

Russley Crown
Canterbury R5
Tried to lead all the way in the Gunnedah Cup and just run down in the shadow of the post, but the young apprentice Stapleford forming a good bond with the horse and sticks here, down in grade and down in distance a touch, though the heavy going is a warning flag here. Will likely try and get across and lead, EW at $5.50.

Frankel Star
Gawler R6
Needed the resuming run at Morks three weeks ago, but kept on well for third at Port Augusta 10 days back. The apprentice up top has won on him previously, fitter now and looks ready to go close in this open betting event at $6.50.
BET: 4 units ew
Bifrost
Mornington R5
The former Kiwi is a perennial backmarker who has improved with every run this prep, and will get his chance late on despite the wide draw if he can stay in contact with the leaders. $11 and rates a good EW bet…
