Go fourth and multiply!!
That was the theme for yesterday as we produced four fourth placings (and two fifths) from our seven from the book.
Lord Darci, Sassman, Such A Whit and Bold Response were close up, with Bringyaticket and Set The Sails not far off either…
Nine from the book as we hit TGIF, with our insider horse going at Ipswich, and some sleepers at good odds!

She’s in a rich vein of form right now, with two wins and a second in her past three, including a smart win from the back at this T&D 14 days ago. Wazza sticks, $3 fav in a decent field but no reason she doesn’t win again…

Cool Encounter
Ipswich R6
Far better suited on soft in his last three, and is a consistent placegetter in this class and distance. Huxtable back onboard as Bayliss jumps ship, but still an EW shot at $11.

Rose Noir, Seiryu

OK, our insider horse in Rose Noir is up again after a month off. Ran well for a long way at Eagle Farm at massive odds after a good second in a Listed race this T&D in May. This is easier, Gollan has spruiked her up with the better draw, and while this is a big, open field, she can figure in this as a $7 shot.
Seiryu was prominent but faded late at Toowoomba 48 days ago, but her prior form was sound with seven finishes in the frame on the bounce, so we’re not discarding her totally, even as the $151 outsider.
BET: RN 5 units ew, could be worth anchoring her to win in your exotics. Seiryu 3 units ew.

Getting fitter – and closer – with three runs under his belt this prep, was just edged out late at leading most of the way over the mile at Swan Hill last month. Mertens is a positive booking, has placed on the AWT, and he’s a real live chance to win another open betting race as $3.30 fav.

On the 4 days back-up 17 days ago at this track, and based on that, plus the rise to 1400m, we really liked her chances but she never emerged from the ruck. Back to the 1000m today, and can’t afford to miss the start as a $9 shot.

Markwell Dreamer
Tamworth R2
Spacing his wins out and while competent on his day has been a bit ordinary this prep. Won his only attempt at this T&D and gets away from that unsuitable heavy ground today. Bullock hops on (5:0-3), so we’ll tag him an EW chance in this at $17.

Spirit Of Pluto
Tamworth R6
We rather fancy his chances in this today. Returned five weeks ago from a 254 day break, prior to which he’d produced five nice runs that prep, culminating in a win. We suggested he could go close if ready, and despite the betting drift to $19 he bolted home for second, well-beaten by a hotpot fav but well clear of the rest. Came out again 14 days ago this T&D, class and going, and sprinted home from the back for another second placing. Looking at the field, there’s nothing outstanding in this race, and it looks wide open. At $12, he’s definitely under the radar, and looks like today’s sleeper at $12.

Storm De Lune

One win and one placing in 29 runs and little form to show. Penza sticks, but hard to see him making an impact, even up in distance and down in grade. $61 on offer.
