Scratching leaves us nothing on Thursday…
Shenanigans at Ballarat yesterday regarding the state of the track put racing back there for over an hour, and our best bet there Rule of Time was a late scratching. Our other two big odds tips were unable to figure…
The big weather bomb has already knocked out today’s Timaru meeting here in NZ, leaving us with eight from across the ditch for this week’s TGIF punt, you’re in for a late night, let’s dive in!
Eight for TGIF!
Amarantz
Moonee Valley R5
11.15pm
Boy, did we get it right with this girl in mid-August! Back from Saturday racing on the 8 day backup, and rated highly back in BM58, and we suggested you watch for her late… Seemingly out of it and labouring at the final bend, she managed to weave a way through and get up by the tiniest of margins for a thrilling win at $2.60. This is harder, but this is her distance and she has won in this grade, and gets Celine up top, so not out of this at $13. Watch for her late again!

Rumours Abound
Moonee Valley R6
11.45pm
Resumes from a 106 day break after running a very close fifth in this grade at Sandown in June after two dominant wins prior to that. Has won first up, has trialled well recently and ticks an awful lot of boxes as a frontrunner over 955m on the tight track at the Valley. $5 makes her a massively attractive EW bet with Jye sticking up top.

Possibly So, Pahang
Dubbo R5
6:40pm
PS tends to get back in the run, as per his first two races this prep, but will be fitter now. T&D stats are spot on for this, as are his good going stats, watch for him late as a $13 shot.
Pahang tends to race in the country, and sneaked out a second, albeit by 10 lengths, at Enngonia (!) 13 days ago. Second-up stats not too bad and he strung together five wins and eight runs for us earlier this year, so we can’t rule him out even at $31…

Warrnambool R6
7:30pm
Spruiked and backed to break her maiden last October and duly obliged at short odds. Close up in subsequent and yet to miss the top five, one of which was when she resumed 12 days ago from a lengthy spell of 8 months in the paddock and not far off the winner at that. Fred Kersley is a nice booking up top, and she’s place 5 from 8 at the distance and gone well on soft ground, well worth the EW investment at $6 in a tight betting field…

Badda Boom Baby
Sunshine Coast R5
11:00pm
Her intermittent career to date resumed here 19 days ago after a 264 day absence. Thought she’d need the run, drifted in betting out to $26 but flew home for a very encouraging third, and the drop back in grade is interesting, though she won’t want it too soft (4:0-0). Still, rates a chance as $4.40 second fav, another to watch for late!

Merchant Flyer
Sunshine Coast R7

Went in the book just five days ago here, absolutely cruised home from the back to win by 4 lengths, and though up in grade, Jimmy Orman can steer him home again as $1.55 fav.

Winchester Rifle
Launceston R8

Was showing some serious talent middle of last year but simply not doing enough right now, so why push him up from BM60 to a BM68? Interest only…
