Back on track…

Plenty of research into today’s picks but that’s what we’re paid to do!

Scenic Rim saved the down-trou for us yesterday with another dominant win to make to two in a row. We spruiked him up as 5 unit ew shot, but scratchings took it down to a field of six, but you still got $3.60/$2.40 for your investment…

Seven from the book today, including an old campaigner, and strangely enough for us, a trotter…

TGIF and the Magnificent Seven…

LITTLE JOE

Te Aroha, 8

Te Aroha get their abandoned meeting from Wednesday going, and the wetter the better for this lad, who revels in the muddy conditions, (6:2-3), and if this rain keeps up, he just might get them today. Run two back was good for second, last run too firm, and he sticks at his fav mile. Smilin’ Joe stays onboard too, watch for him late in this as the track conditions deteriorate as heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast. Two Joe’s at $9, get onboard!

BET: 5 units ew

KING OF THE BOUNTY

Moonee Valley, 6

Spruiked up and duly won at Swan Hill 18 days ago in the dash for cash over 955m. Tends to sit back, but that’s a recipe for disaster at the Valley over these short distances, so he’ll need to be ridden forward to have a shot against these smart types. Dual acceptor who curiously elected to run here instead of Wagga… $19 on offer.

BET: Warrants a small 5 unit win bet only…

RUSSIAN DANCER

Moonee Valley, 7

His early career form was excellent, went in the book with a tough win at Pak in Feb and has won twice for us since. Had only missed a place on one of nine runs, which was his debut, and we suggested it was a bit short for him resuming in Sept, and that was the case as he never really got into it. Went to 1500m then 1700m at odds in his next two, the latter a good form race, but he’s another backmarker, so the rise to 2040m today will be very much in his favour. Fitter now, drops in grade, and if Stockdale can sit him a touch closer in the run, he can descend on these late, $12 on offer.

BET: 5 units ew

LET’S SEA, SACRED KIWI

Kilmore, 8

LS won touch at Ararat almost a year ago, subsequent runs so-so, but gets back to his fav distance today as $5 fav. Nugent hops on for an in-form barn, $5 fav in on open betting race. SK strung a nice sequence together for us in Aug/Sept in some BM58 races, and drops back to that level today. This is also his fav distance, and he can figure in this at $6.

BET: Can back both 5 units ew, plus exotics

ABB ROY

Ipswich, 6

And here she is again, run #142 for this 10 year old mare. On-pacer who is capable of surprising, EW at $15 in this.

BET: 3 units ew

KING VANCE

Albion Park, 7

I must have been pretty impressed with this one 10 days ago as he bolted home as fav on debut here for 40 metres. No idea on odds as yet but I’d suggest he’ll be pretty short…

BET: 5 units ew if the price is right, otherwise 10 unit win if he’s supported…
