Two, late, baby…
Changing Colours left it far too late yesterday, chasing hard for second, while Cool Encounter suffered the same fate, finishing on late for fourth.
Nine as we hit TGIF, including a couple of nice prospects for the late qadi at the Valley!
State of America (10 unit win) bolted home from the turn to win by a margin as he did in a Midway three weeks ago, paying a very nice $3.30.
But it was Barber (5 units ew) who really rounded the day out, improving on two nice runs this prep, back in grade, up in distance, and got the job done at a very juicy $10/$2.80!

TGIF Nine…
Ardee Boy
New Plymouth R4
Runs back this prep have been progressively better, culminating in a win at Awapuni 19 days ago, giving them a galloping lesson from the front. Up in grade here but capable of stepping up in this, worth EW at $10.
BET: 5 units ew
Badgeringdawitness
New Plymouth R5
Won on resuming, two subsequent runs a touch plain and does prefer the heavy going. The step up to 2000m may help, maybe a place at $5.50.
BET: 4 units ew
Francesco Guardi, Haaracaine
Moonee Valley R7
FG was scratched on Wednesday. Ran a decent seventh in the G1 Turnbull 20 days ago behind the talented Via Sistina so rates a chance in this at $4.20 fav at G2. JMac sticks, ticks a lot of boxes.
Haaracaine ran a close eighth two weeks ago in the Herbert Power after winning three in a row. This will be another good test for him but he is a capable type, $14 on offer.
BET: FG 5 units ew, H 3 units ew, exotics
Rumours Abound
Moonee Valley R8
Noted winning in July last year with a dominant victory at Corowa from the front, if a little green, then jumping hugely in grade, running last in a Highway at Randwick before heading to the paddock, obviously with an issue. Resumed after 7 months in March after winning a trial and led as she usually does, but faded late, needing the run but only 1.5 lengths away for fourth. Next she managed to negotiate the carpark draw, as she won with a leg in the air by nearly 5 lengths! Stepped back out to the 1000m in early June, and despite a drift in betting, she dominated the race to make it 4 wins from 7 starts, then ran a very close fifth less than a length from the winner at Sandown. Resumes today, ticks all the boxes, frontrunner, short, tight track, top jock onboard, has won first-up, won on good, easiest EW bet of the day as $4.60 fav!

Sting Jet
Scone R5
Noted when massive late to win at Scone in Feb, and not too far off in subsequent runs. Thought he would need the resuming run last month and so it proved, though he wasn’t far off, and his second-up form is 4:2-1. Jockey is 1:1, capable of a decent finish, and is rated a real EW shot at $5.50 in a very tight betting market.

Gold Tracker
Queanbeyan R5
Been dodging around different distances and surfaces, but he is capable of a big finish. Hasn’t won for a while but is capable, $3.30 second fav in a small field, chance if he settles closer, watch late.
BET: 5 unit win
Set The Sails
Innisfail R8
Very consistent this prep, running 23334 in his past five. Tends to sit close to the speed, if he can cross and find the front he can give these something to catch at $6.50 on the 6 day back-up…
BET: 5 unit win
Cornelian Bay
Launceston R7
Close up without winning this prep, hasn’t missed the frame in three runs, will run these close at $4.60 in a small field.
BET: 8 unit win
