Classy winner, nice quinella and a couple to watch going forward…
Back to winning ways, though a more predictable winner in the very impressive Baraqiel (10 unit win), following up his impressive win on debut three weeks ago with an imperious display at Pak yesterday, winning as he liked at $1.50, but it was money in the bank…
Our other tip in that race was ex-Kiwi Matawai, and we recommended that these two would fill the quinella (10 units), which they did, paying a generous $3.30.
Can’t help thinking there’s a win in the offing for Phorcys, not too far away in fifth, if they get him out a bit further he’s gonna reward us at odds… watch this space…
Auf Weidersehen went round in triple figures but was there for a long way in a much improved run, even looking up to take the lead on the final bend. Another blackbooker we are keeping an eye on…

Resumed at Geelong in April and made some late headway into fifth at odds. Back in grade and up to 1200m 15 days ago and while he got well back, he made some significant late headway, finishing just 2.1 lengths off the winner. Drawn well, and looks value at $9.00.

He bolted in on debut in August 21, and his career has been very much interrupted with time in the paddock, and he’s only had the eight runs to date, and resumes today after another 221 day spell. Three very promising runs last prep saw him run an eye-catching second, then win a trial, then dominate on the heavy at Echuca before hopping up to the BM64 and a close fourth at Moe before heading for a break. Ran a close second in a trial there a month ago, and we were very keen when he resumed at Werribee 18 days ago, despite concerns at the shorter 1000m. He was in trouble right from the off, dropping out early when we really needed him up with the pace. We know he’s got a good finish in him, but the 1000m proved just a tad short for him, especially resuming after 221 days away, but he flew home for third paying $1.50, earning a next-time tag from us. This is it, up to 1143m, he can’t jump that bad again, looks a great EW bet at $6.00.

Jaykayann resumed 9 days ago, flashing home for fourth, and will go strip fitter for the run. Billy Egan is 2 from 4 up top and he’s 4 wins from 10. Like her chances at $4.80.
Mathew noted with a superb run from the back in July last year, surging home from last to win at Sale by nearly three lengths. He resumed at Caulfield after 286 days, with Billy up top, and did make some late progress, but needing the run, chance at $6.50. Sticking with Billy’s choice today though…

And Billy features again… Ex-Kiwi Bifrost backs up after running a fast-finishing third down the Flemington straight at big odds for us ($26), and drops back in grade for this. If Billy settles him closer, he’ll be hard to beat, watch for him late on as $2.15 fav in a small field.
