Close, but no cigar…
With Ipswich abandoned yesterday, that left us with six, but we just missed on continuing our winning run, Gee String (3 units ew) running a spirited second paying $4.20 the place.
Today’s meeting at Gore has already been abandoned, which leaves us with four from the book ahead of the weekend…

Noted three weeks back at Wagga screaming home from the back to just miss, earning herself a next-time badge, and here she is today as a $6.50 shot in a small field. Has to get past this hotpot fav but the extra 100m should suit,

Needed the resuming run at Wagga 19 days ago where she was a drifter in the betting, but back up to a more suitable distance today. Remains at the BM64 grade, has won in higher, and sports a decent second-up record (3:1-2). Mertens is a positive booking, she’s $3.90 in a close betting event and should be right in it late here…

Resumes from an 11 month layoff after he won two and placed second for us a year ago in his last three races. Good stats for this, just depends if he’s ready but market has him a close third fav in a tight betting field at $4.20, so he’s a win bet today.

Form is patchy, but capable of throwing in the occasional good effort. Last race was too rich for him but he’s an EW shot in this at $8.50.
