Two from four…
A nice second from Royal Fox (4 units ew) yesterday, last all the way but unleashed his signature big finish to run a couple of lengths from the hotpot fav with the rest well beaten, paying $2.70 the place. He’s progressing towards another win, especially if they get him out over a bit more ground – watch this space…
Primo was resuming after almost 6 months away, we thought he might need the run, and so it proved, but it was a solid fourth for him, and he’s on the watchlist also for next time…
We’ve got a busy TGIF today, with twelve from the book, let’s top up the account before we hit the weekend!
TGIF Twelve…
ANDERSONS BAY
New Plymouth, 3
Well-supported and spruiked up on debut just 16 days ago and ran a very creditable second. J Riddell sticks, no reason he doesn’t win this with that run under his belt, $3 fav, jump on sooner rather than later…
BET: 10 unit win
RUMOURS ABOUND
Albury, 3
Noted winning in July with a dominant victory at Corowa from the front, if a little green, then jumping hugely in grade, running last in a Highway at Randwick before heading to the paddock, obviously with an issue. Resumes after 7 months, won a trial two weeks back and Schiller hops onboard, suggesting she’ll go well here as the $2.90 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
GOLD TRACKER
Albury, 5
Noted with an astonishing last-to-first win in October, winning by nearly three lengths, then winning again a month later. Two runs up in grade were fair, and he was back to BM58 under fav jockey Guymer in late Dec, running home late for third. They got him a bit closer in the run at Wagga when resuming 17 days ago, where he ran on for third, suggesting the rise to 1`500m will suit today. The $16 looks generous, and he’s well worth the EW punt in an open betting event.

CANNY HELL
Albury, 6
Resumed from a long break with two on-pace wins here in Jan/Feb, but the rise to 1400m and up in grade was his undoing 21 days mid-Feb and also 12 days ago in the Canberra Guineas, but no disgrace in either run. Back in grade now but still at the 1400m having his fourth go at the distance, and will give them something to chase down if he makes the lead. Two from three on the track, $3.80 second fav, looks like a race in two…
BET: 6 unit win, 10 unit quinella with fav.
FAWKNER PARK, REGAL LION
Albury, 7
FP ran a close fourth at HQ 13 days ago, 3.3 lengths behind Young Werther. Don’t think there’s anything near that quality in this easier field, Schiller hops on again for us, should win this, $2.25 fav. RL has his moments, but hasn’t shown much in recent runs, and Schiller jumps off him to ride the fav. $14, may fill the exotics…
BET: FL 10 unit win, RL 2 units ew, exotics
BOLD RESPONSE
Cranbourne, 7
Won three in a row last year at BM58 before a couple of failures at BM64. Resumes from a 176 day spell back in grade and if he’s ready he’ll be factor in this tight betting race as $4.80 shot.
BET: 6 unit win
GALENUS
Launceston, 5
Mixes his form but last run for second here 23 days ago was an improved effort. Pires jumps off but the apprentice has a 3:1-1 record onboard. Great T&D stats (they all have!) and a chance in a field where there’s about $1.50 separating the top five in betting…
BET: 3 units ew
FOCUS
Townsville, 4
His consistent form this prep paid of at this T&D 24 days ago when he sat just off the pace before peeling wide to bury them close to home as fav. Stats up the yin yang, $4.20 third fav in a small field, can do it again!
BET: 8 unit win
GENTILESCHI
Scone, 4
Debut run was eye-catching as she screamed home for second, and we marked her down as a next-timer. She came out 12 days later running way up in grade as a $41 shot at Randwick, but not disgraced in tenth only 5 lengths off the winner before being put away for 160 days. Resumes off the back of two recent good trials and looks the one to beat. Will get back but will also be finishing well late… $2 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
RAMONES
Scone, 6
His food form this prep has him moving towards a second career win, just failing to hang on 12 days ago at Tamworth after leading all the way. This is a touch shorter, and if he get away well from the nice draw, he can win this at very ice odds of $8. Has placed 4 form 4 here and his fav apprentice sticks, value runner!
BET: 5 units ew
STING JET
Scone, 8
He was huge from the back late here 25 days ago to get up and win, then third to our other pick Russley Crown 12 days ago at Tamworth at big odds. Fav jock sticks, $21 is outrageous value!
BET: 3 units ew
