AMBERECHO, CHOKITO
Cromwell, 5
Amberecho has been right round the mark in all five spells this prep, and looks ready to win. Gets to her fav distance and going and rates as a vale EW bet as $4.40/$1.85 fav. Chokito’s cheese has slid right off her cracker since her last win over 13 months ago. Form prior was solid, obviously something not right there, and she’s interest only at $21 here today.
BET: A 5 units ew, could lead us to the trifecta, C 2 units ew
PHILOSOPHER
Mornington, 5
Made a big impression winning on debut in Jan 2022, but has had a couple of long stretches away. Resumes today after racing on Christmas Eve last year, and does drop significantly in grade back from Metro racing. Frontrunner, chance if he’s right, and the market has him a $2.60 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
JOLTIN’ JOE
Mornington, 8
Last two at the Valley went the same way, he gets back in the run and finishes fast, but we know the Valley is not the place to do that, and the more open track at Mornington should suit. Distance, going and jockey all in his favour, drops a touch in grade, also back from Metro, and he’ll be swooping late as $4.20 second fav.

CARRIBEAN KING, STELLAR POWER
Sunshine Coast, 4
Two from the book desperately looking for a boost in form. CK strung four placings together for us mid-year, and gets Bayliss back up top, a real positive. Great T&D stats for this, likes the soft, and has won third up previously, he’s a chance at $9 in this.
SP hasn’t raced much since his win on Boxing Day last year, and he’s done little in the two runs this prep. $101 on offer, seems about right, so tell me why he’s the top weight in this handicap?

BRAZEN BRECCIA
Sunshine Coast, 5
Scratched the other day and presents here as an $18 shot. Very consistent placegetter, on-pacer, back to his fav distance (7:2-4) and down in grade a touch. That makes him value in our books, EW all day in this very open betting event…

Mudgee, 5
The nice burst of form early in the year for us dissipated a bit as the year wore on, with a couple of breaks during that time. Resumes today after four recent trials, and fav jockey Cavallo sticks. Likes this distance and going and has decent first-up form. $10 shot, worth a pop in this small, open field…
