Another winner…
As expected, our best bet Underhand sped out to an early lead over the dash for cash 800m and did enough to hang on for a close win. We backed her at $3.10 and she was backed all the way in before a late drift saw her finish up at $2.30, nevertheless a nice pick-up for our 10 unit win investment…
Scratchings and an abandoned meeting at the Sunny Coast has us down to just four picks as we hit TGIF, including three with a very good shot at winning, plus a roughie.

We had Girl a few days ago, now it’s Boy’s turn… He was spruiked up and backed on debut at Otaki in early January and followed up as fav again at Trentham running fifth. Looks like a race in two here but we’ll stick with our boy at $2.25.

Went in the book this week last year with a dominant win to break maidens and has three twice since, three if you include the Billy Pinn débâcle… Three good runs this prep and was up to stakes grade 21 days ago in the Adams at Caulfield and not far off either. Can race on the pace – a requirement over 955m at the Valley – and if they let her get away with it, she’ll be awfully hard to catch… Back in grade, Kah sticks, $4 fav, we’re onboard…

COMPELLING TRUTH

Went in the book Jan last year when he spanked a big field here as an odds-on fav after a close second here the previous month. Obviously had some issues as he ran near-last at Tamworth later in the month and took 13 months to resume at Dubbo 11 days ago, where we spruiked him up to win, and he did so with some style, powering away to win by 2.5 lengths. Winning jockey sticks, up in grade, but still awfully hard to beat as $2.90…

Last win was almost a year back, tends to get back in the run so maybe the jump to the mile will help, though three attempts at that distance yet to produce a place. EW at $11.
