$24 placegetter, plus more!
One winner to show for our efforts on Oaks Day yesterday, but some blinding placegetters at great odds!
We marked Dajieda down as promising after her debut run in September, and she dominated in some style, winning with a leg in the air (8 unit win, $2.00).
But the star of the show place-wise was Vasmee, who only rated a 2 unit ew investment, but ran third at a staggering $24 the place. Not sure about Shinn’s ride on Gregolimo, hot pot fav, got back in a spot, and ran home like a wildebeest with turning disease to run a disappointing second at $1.10…
Then we had Appin Girl, really keen on her being a sleeper in this, and she closed off well on return for third, and e next-time flag (5 units ew, $5.30 the place).
We tagged Mormaire after two good runs for the new barn, and she flew home to repay the 3 unit ew at $4.50 the place.
Chandon Burj (5 units ew, $1.90), Luxuriant (5 units ew, $1.70), Drift Net ($1.20) rounded out our fine day of placings,
Four for TGIF, varying in odds, but all in with a chance, I feel a place Yank coming on! Let’s have a look…
Four for Friday…
SOCIAL CONSCIENCE
Pakenham, 6
He can mix his runs a bit, but has raced well in higher grades than this. Effective at this distance (13:3-4) and worth an EW shot today $11 in an open event.

ELECTRIC EVIE
Kempsey, 2
I’m not normally a “nana-bettor” (people who back horse based on names, like your Nan!) but I did have an interested eye on this one as it’s my granddaughter’s name. She was well-supported on debut, running on into fourth less than a length from the winner. McGuren sticks, co-fav at $2.80, I’m onboard!
BET: 10 unit win
TELEGRAPH
Kempsey, 8
Found some form mid-year including at this grade before heading for a break. Resumed 21 days ago at Taree, not far off the winner, and has good form second up. McGuren also sticks on this one, $6 shot in another open race…

FIORENTE SPRITZ
Hamilton, 7
Not likely on the face of it, but looking back to this time last year and she runs second to Let’s Sea before winning next time up as odds-on fav at Horsham. Something obviously amiss as she ran last in the next two before heading to the paddock for nine months, resuming with a trial win under Yendall in late Sept. Needed the resuming run 19 days ago, but wasn’t too far away in fifth. Yendall deserts her today, looking hard to beat on the fav, but gonna rate FS an outsider’s chance at $41. After yesterday, who knows?
