BOOM BANGA BANG!!
Another lulu of a day yesterday, with a hat-trick of big odds winners, following up on the two from Wednesday!!
Top of the class went to Ramones (3 units ew), a perennial on-pacer resuming, and he certainly gave ‘em something to catch even with a betting drift, but Jeff Penza booted him home at a delicious $21.70/$5.60, earning a place in our Hall of Fame…
Pondalowie got the Flemington card off to a great start for us, hitting the front halfway down the straight and powered away for a two length win at $8.70/$3.00, nice return for the 3 units ew punt.
And Little Rich Boy (5 units ew) took advantage of his favoured T&D, and jockey, to register a 4 length win at $8.30/$2.60.
In addition, former Kiwi Yaldi (5 units ew) made his Aussie debut at Listed level after just one run for a win in NZ, and ran a very creditable third paying $2.70, more to come from this lad for sure…
And back in NZ, Cooper couldn’t quite hold out the fast-finishing $20 shot, running second, while Tikemyson parked out the back early and screamed home for third at $2.00, earning a next-time tag.
Altogether, a 21% winning strike rate and 42% return rate from our fourteen tips, and what odds! PG’s Tips does it again!!
So that’s five BIG winners in two days:
Infernape: $8.90/$3.00
Vindicator: $7.20/$2.20
Ramones: $21.70/$5.60,
Pondalowie: $8.70/$3.00
Little Rich Boy: $8.30/$2.60
We’ve got 13 from the book on a busy little TGIF, let’s get some more money in the wallet ahead of the weekend!!
Friday, the 13…
LUXURIANT, THE FIRST LINK
Matamata, 3
Luxuriant resumed from a 142 day spell a week ago at this T&D, and despite needing the run, finished a creditable 1.2 lengths from the winner. She’ll take a lot from that, and though she only has one win from 23 starts, she looks set to figure in this wide-open betting race as a $5 shot.
TFL resumes from a 6 month layoff, he’s a shit-or-bullets type, just a matter of catching him on the right day. Had a win and a third last prep, sandwiched between some ordinary runs, but will enjoy the give in the ground. This looks a bit on the short side for him, so this is maybe a tune-up for him, but gets the in-form Joe Doyle up top, so pay to keep safe, $12 on offer…
BET: LUX 5 units ew, TFL 2 units ew, possible exotics
AUF WEIDERSEHEN
Cranbourne, 5
Went in the book with his last win two years ago, but he does tend to mix ‘em up a bit… Done nothing in two resuming runs at massive this prep, he’s been going round between 1400m and 2580m and jumps back up from the mile to the 2520m here today. Ran second in a recent trial but not sure he’s up to this as a $41 outsider, so it may be a case of “auf weidersehen” to your cash…

BOLD RESPONSE
Cranbourne, 8
Won three in a row last year at BM58 before a couple of failures at BM64. Resumed from a 176 day spell back in grade a month ago with a nice won from on the pace back at the BM58, but couldn’t sustain that in the BM64 14 days ago, both those runs here. Remains in that grade today, and steps up to 1200m, seemingly not a good fit for him, hence the $26 outsider status. Bates sticks, just not sure he can win it, so EW best…

HIGHGROUND
Mackay, 6
He showed a lot of consistency 18 months ago but mainly went round in picnics last year. Does have a decent record having finished in the frame 56% of the time, and goes well over this distance, and also has a decent first-up record (6:2-3). Resumes from a 188 day break with the benefit of G Cartwright up top, $12 chance in this.
BET: 3 units ew
DUCHESS ADELE
Mackay, 7
Rarely been anywhere near repeating the win she went in the book for nearly three years ago, and resumes from a 216 day break. Doubt she’ll be rolling in deep amounts of cash after this as a $41 shot…
BET: 3 units ew
GRINGOTTS, COIN TOSS, SUPERSTORM
Tamworth, 7
Gringotts got up in a superb finish at Rosehill when resuming a month ago, anchoring us to the qadi there. Fronts up here as the $2.60 fav in the Big Dance Eligibility, has only missed the frame once in eleven runs and though this is a step up and he loses JMac, he’s still a great chance to take this out. Coin Toss is ex-Singapore and the win at Canberra two back was excellent. Faded late at Rosehill last time out but is better than that, solid EW shot in this as $5 shot.
Superstorm won a G1 two and half years ago but has not even approached that kind of form since… $81 shot here…

JALMARI
Moruya, 2
Another one pretty much out of sorts with just one win in his last twenty runs. Has placed G3, $5 on offer today, up to the mile may help…
BET: 3 units ew
KOOL BIRD
Moruya, 4
Has improved over two runs back this prep, has placed over this track, distance, in this grade on this going and under this jockey. This is not a strong field, so the $26 looks tempting, sleeper!

FIORENTE SPRITZ, MR MISCHIEF
Ararat, 7
FS is always thereabouts, good stats here and over this distance, and in this grade. Lobs along in midfield, and if she finds her finish, she’s a good EW shot here at $8.50.
MM is an 8 year old veteran, resuming after 257 days in the paddock. Form last prep was a bit patchy, but did produce a few wins, so it’s a matter of catching him on the right day… He’s 7:0-0 first-up, and this might be a tad short for him, so today might not be that day… $41 shot.
