Boom, boom, boom!!!

A great warm-up for the weekend with three winners and two seconds from our eight runners yesterday…

Sapphires Son is much-improved this prep and hit the front at the last bend to power way for the win at $3.30.

Guerite gave nothing a chance as he dominated at $3.90 for the win.

And it was worth the wait for King Taurus, back from a Highway and we spruiked him to break through, and he produced an astonishing finish to get up by the smallest of margins right on the line, paying $2.10 the win.

Seconds for Primo, just edged out on the line, plus a stunning finish from Telegraph, paying a juicy $5.70 the place, surely a win is imminent…

Six from NZ and nineteen from Aussie, including a few double-ups.

NZ today…

Im Bartholomew

New Plymouth R3

1:42pm

Ex-Aussie who debuted in NZ, resuming with a smart win on a heavy 10 a month ago, winning jockey sticks, just a question on the drop back to the 990m, but if he jumps OK, he’ll be hard to beat at $6.00.

BET: 5 units ew

Inmyshadow

New Plymouth R5

2:55pm

Pulled up in his last two over hurdles, this more suitable on the flat but will still need to improve to feature, $27.

BET: 2 units ew

Buoyant

Riccarton R6

3:22pm

Better run last time, and he sports decent stats this T&D and on soft, EW at $9.50.

BET: 3 units ew

Cool Aza Rene, Miss Starlight, Miss Ziggy

Riccarton R7

3:58pm

Miss S has impressed in two wins from two, and looks a bit special, well in this at $7.00.

CAR got knocked off by stablemate and fav here two weeks ago, still well in this at $8.00.

Miss Z was third in that race and capable of a repeat, $9.50 on offer.

BET: Tough one, can back them all EW, include in exotics.

Aussie today…

Tonkin, Canny Hell

Flemington R1

2:10pm

Tonkin has 4 wins from 5 and resumed 16 days ago with a dominant, all-the-way win. Steps up to the 110mm for the first time, bound to be there at the end, $9.50 looks juicy…

CH not bad when resuming for a fourth 15 days ago but this is tougher, will need to improve to feature at $201.

BET: T 5 units ew, CH 2 units ew, would make the exotics interesting

Rise At Dawn, Pondalowie

Flemington R5

4:40pm

RAD resumes after running down the track in the Straddy. Stats for first-up,track, distance and going are excellent, and he’s 3:3 under Micky Dee. Back in grade, $11 looks very generous…

P resumed two weeks ago but needed the run, might another at $51.

BET: RAD 5 units ew, P 2 units ew, again, exotics would be interesting…

Via Sistina, Antino

Flemington R8

6:20pm

A small but very talented field for the Makybe Diva Stakes, hard to go past Via Sistina but she’ll need to maintain that fine form that’s landed her five wins on the bounce, $1.80 fav.

Antino settled back and finished late for fifth in the Memsie, can fill a place at $7.50.

BET: VS 10 unit win, A 3 units ew, exotics with VS to win

Adolphus, The Impeckable

Rosehill R2

2:25pm

Not bad on resuming, running a close fourth in a Highway. He’s a very consistent animal at this level, and we rate him a great EW punt at $11.

TI is also consistent, though this is a jump in grade for him. EW at $41, could surprise!

BET: A 5 units ew, TI 3 units ew

The Years, State Of America

Rosehill R4

3:35pm

The Years has been going well this prep, up in grade here but drops 9kgs to compensate. T Clark jumps on, EW shot at $7.00.

SOA going OK without threatening, back in grade here, was won twice third-up and gets up to the distance he likes, EW at $23, watch late…

BET: TY 4 units ew SOA 3 units ew

Nepotism

Rosehill R8

6:00pm

Returns from a five month break where she finished off last prep with a win in the G1 Champagne at Randwick where he was dead last at the 400m and got up to win on the line, so he’s no slouch… Schiller sticks, he’s had a couple of quiet trials, and while the 1200m may be a touch sort, he looks like he’ll be right in the finish, watch late for him at $10…

BET: 5 units ew

Autumn Glow, Democracy Manifest

Rosehill R9

6:40pm

Not much more you say about AG, five wins from five, she’d have to fall over to lose this as $1.40 fav, sell the farm…

The stable also has old favourite Democracy Manifest in this, always worth including the stablemate when there’s a hot fav, and there’ll be a few succulent Chinese meals if he wins on resumption at $35…

BET: AG 10 unit win, DM 2 units ew, exotics of course…

Anthracite

Morphettville R6

5:52pm

Couldn’t have been more impressive winning at Murray Bridge in his second race, bolting in by six lengths. Pannell stuck two weeks ago and he duly demolished them with ease. Up in distance but that won’t stop him, $1.80 fav.

BET: 8 unit win

Foreign Press

Doomben R3

3:08pm

Just got nicked late when trying to lead all the way after two previous wins. Back to the 1110m, will be hard to stop as $1.85 fav

BET: 10 unit win

Sonofdec

Kembla Grange R6

5:45pm

Resumes from a break, ran a couple of places last prep but likely to need this at $6.50 in a small field.

BET: 2 units ew

Mr Invincible

Griffith R3

5:01pm

Won his debut but little inbetween. Resumes, will probably need this as $34 outsider…

BET: 2 units ew
