Scratchings and abandonments…
Yesterday turned into a damp squib as Cyclone Alfred barrels down on South East Queensland and Northern NSW, with both Grafton and Moree abandoned, where we had two tips going, and surely more to come over the next few days…
Add to that Social Conscience scratched at the barrier and our only other runner Shameless Boy leading all the way but fading late.

The run in May at the Hillside in Open class was top notch, screaming home from last to run second, his fourth in six runs, then ran fourth at Sale before heading to the paddock. Resumed in December at the Valley after 163 days with Billy onboard and steamed home for third. She was backed well into red figures in Jan, finished fast but just couldn’t pick up the runaway winner. Billy sticks, out to 1200m where she’s placed 4 from 5, picking she makes amends today, $5.50 on offer…

Impressive last prep and he returns from a 220 day spell and won his most recent trial under H Coffey, who rides today. He’ll give them something to chase, early markets have him $2.80 fav, get onboard.

Oak Hill, Major Share, Philosopher

We’ve got three in this six horse field, all with claims…
Oak Hill resumed from a 195 day spell in Jan, with some compelling stats. Bit concerned about his get-back pattern over the 955m at the Valley, and he did that again, but he flew home to win with something in hand. Fancied him to follow up but no disgrace in the second to our other horse in that race Unflinching, who’s a scratching in this race today. Up in grade but should go well, tremendous T&Ds but he’ll need to jump well over the 955m dash… $3.60 on offer.
Major Share has been massively impressive, he’s 8:6-1, won his last three, the latest in this grade, stats also outstanding, $4.20.
Philosopher ran ninth in the G1 Lightning three weeks ago, previous form good, will, be thereabouts, $8.50.
BET: Tough one, with the fav also a threat. Edging to Major Share in a small field, 8 unit win, include all in exotics.

Doesn’t win out of turn, resumed a week ago with a fourth here. Up in grade here, does tend to get back so will need to sit closer to figure in this at $18 but could drop in late in this small field.
